Safer Internet Day

What is Safer Internet Day?

Safer Internet Day (SID) takes place in February every year to promote safe and responsible use of online technology. From cyberbullying to social networking. SID aims to raise awareness of emerging online issues and chooses a topic reflecting current concerns.

Key Messages

SID encourages everyone to come together and play their part.

Teachers, educators and social workers

  • Can help to create a better internet by teaching their pupils and students digital literacy and critical thinking skills, create their own content, make informed choices online, and can set an example of positive online behaviour for their pupils and peers.

Industries

  • Can help to create a better internet by promoting positive content online and by empowering users with quick access to support if things do go wrong.

Everyone

  • Has a responsibility to make a positive difference online. Promote positivity by being kind and respectful to others and by seeking out positive opportunities to create and connect. When we come across negativity, inappropriate, and illegal content online, we should report it.

Empentis

Empentis pledges to create a safe space online where our learners can express themselves and create positive content.
