This Apprenticeship prepares learners to become qualified Heavy Goods Vehicle drivers, developing the practical driving, safety and logistics skills needed for a successful career in transport.
This fully funded apprenticeship is designed to train individuals to operate Category C+E vehicles and covers the cost of the licence training.
Apprentices learn how to transport goods across a range of environments while understanding the responsibilities involved in vehicle operation, route planning and legal compliance. Throughout the programme, learners build confidence in carrying out vehicle safety checks, securing loads correctly, following transport regulations and delivering excellent customer service. With demand for skilled drivers continuing across the UK, this apprenticeship offers a strong foundation for a long-term career in one of the country’s most essential industries.
The course runs over 8 months, combining workplace experience with structured training to prepare learners for a career in professional driving. Apprentices complete all required theory tests, Driver CPC (where applicable), and a medical assessment as part of the programme.
Learners then undertake 3–5 days of practical driver training, including their HGV driving test, at a DVLA-approved driving school. All costs are covered, including medical fees, theory tests, Driver CPC, practical training, and one resit if required.
The programme concludes with an End-Point Assessment, consisting of 30 multiple choice questions, a 30-minute professional discussion, and a 30-minute practical drive. Once completed, the apprenticeship is signed off in full with no further training or review activity required.
